Immigration evaluations are based on current literature examining the impact of trauma and family separation on psychosocial functioning and include a clinical interview, psychological testing, and collateral interviews. Comprehensive reports can be utilized to assess the long-term impact of deportation.
A standard battery includes culturally-sensitive assessment of psychological disorders and a robust examination of past and current exposure to trauma or violence. Other measures may be included as deemed necessary during the evaluation process. These data are used to determine the presence of a DSM 5 diagnosis and inform an individualized, evidence-based treatment plan.
